East Sooke Park is rich in west coast wilderness, wildlife and wonderful views leading down to sandy beaches. The regional park extends over 1,435 hectares with a fantastic network of hiking trails crisscrossing, looping and connecting to each other exploring pass moss covered forest floors and fallen dead fall trees covered in lichen.

The park trail system extends over 50 kilometres entering into many various forest and bog-like eco systems. Many come to hike East Sooke Park and, others, like families come to picnic. On a clear day, take advantage of the views over looking the Strait of Juan de Fuca at the Olympic Mountains.

There are others who take a liking to the park like photographers, scuba divers and naturalists. The naturalists explore the rock outcroppings at low tide when the tidal pools are most exposed. A great family adventure for the kids is exploring tidal pools.

The most popular trail is probably the mainly waterfront Coast Trail. The trek extends along the coastline for 10 kilometres with stops for ocean views at Creyke Point and at the petroglyphs at Alldridge Point. Continue further to Beechey Head and Cabin Point for a photo moment.

Some o the other trails in the area might also tickl your hiking fancy. It is worth the effort looking into hiking the Coppermine Trail, Parkheights Trail and the Anderson Cove Trail. All offer something different.

The trail has shelters posted on the route and picnic tables. At the main parking lot there is a shelter, a picnic area and washrooms.

How to get to East Sooke Park: From Victoria, BC travel along Sooke Road until Gillespie Road. Take a left onto East Sooke Road and follow it until Becher Road. Here you take a left to East Sooke Park. ( More )
