Killer Whales (Orcas) and Humpback Whales are the
biggest thrills provided by Victoria Whale Watching Tours. Both
whales come and go, migrating to and from BC, eventually settling
off the coast of Victoria, Canada.
Some migratory seasons, like May to October, the
beautiful whale creatures venture closer to shore for feeding. But,
from November to April, many of the whales begin a journey of migrating
(transient whales) whiles others stay put and call the South Vancouver
Island region home (resident whales).
One thing is for certain... that the connecting waters
of the Juan de Fuca Strait and the Strait of Georgia near Victoria
BC, Canada both carry powerful currents and have become a popular
swimming route for Orcas, Humpbacks and Minke Whales. Routes leading
to feeding grounds and in some cases to a favorite rubbing rock.
The Victoria area is a popular Whale Watching Tour
destination with most tour companies operating from May to October.
The vessels and guides vary. Some operators use zodiacs for speed
and thrill, while other tour vessels provide padded seats, coffee,
viewing decks and enclosed cabins. Your call, both provide a different
type of whale watching tour. (more
