Inner Harbour

The Inner Harbour is the "Hub" of activity in Victoria. The harbour is centrally located in the City of Victoria providing easy access to many of the most popular activities, sightseeing attractions and downtown Victoria shops and stores.

The horseshoe shaped Inner Harbour is anchored around a marina and surrounded by a cement tiered promenade walkway. The marina is home to large yachts, motorboats and sailboats... and is also a meeting point for activity companies including kayak, whale watching and ferry sightseeing tours.

The cement promenade walkway circles the harbour and consists of two levels. The lower level promenade is a pedestrian walkway developed with gardens, cement barriers, grass lawns, outdoor patio restaurants and sitting benches.

The upper promenade is at street level. From the upper levels of the Inner Harbour one can access the unique shops and stores of Government Street, the grounds of the historic Empress Hotel, the Provincial Legislative Buildings, the British Columbia Provincial Royal Museum, the Undersea Gardens and Beacon Hill Park.

During the days of summer the Inner Harbour is always busy with people sightseeing, relaxing, shopping, taking pictures, having lunch and touring. All the while there are always numerous street musicians entertaining and vendors selling their goods.

There are many services, in or very near, the Inner Harbour that are important to travelers. Some of the services include accommodations, restaurants, banks, specialty gift stores, tours, guides, attractions, coffee shops, marina, air base, art galleries and museum. At night the Inner Harbour is also the social centre of the downtown area with pubs and dance clubs.

The Inner Harbour is located in close proximity to Ogden Point (cruise ship docks), Dallas Road (popular sightseeing walkway and storm watching destination) and China Town (Canada's first).
