The National Geographic IMAX Theatre brings
in many different assortments of big budget screen adventures,
biopics and documentaries from around the world for the public
to view. The Victoria IMAX Theatre has
some monster movie screens that reach up 6 stories high with an
audio digital sound of 12000 watts.
The IMAX films grab you
by the collar and yank you right into the action. Feel the realism,
experience the emotions and become part of the story while comfortably
wrapped up in a movie screen blanket. National Geographic
Theatre is an educational ride around the world riding
the sights and sounds on the big screen.
The theatre experience is created using the
latest 70 mm film technology in a rolling loop format that runs
through a monster projector with each frame sizing an area 10
times that of a 35 mm film. An IMAX theatre process
that, not only produces images 6 stories high, but the film is
also projected 70 feet wide. That is more then 4,000 times the
area of your computer screen! So when landscapes, mountains, lions,
even snakes or just about anything up on the big screen... is
looking pretty vast and big.
The National Geographic IMAX Theatre in Victoria is a 400 seat auditorium located
inside the same building as the Royal
BC Museum on Victoria's Inner Harbour. At all times
there is up to 5 films to choose per production run at the IMAX.
It is best to phone and see what is playing at the theatre, because
being environmental out here on the west coast we see allot of
